Biostatistics and Data Management

The Study Design and Biostatistics Core at the Boston University Clinical and Translational Science Institute (BU CTSI) offers one-stop shopping for researchers who need study design, biostatistical and data management expertise. Our experienced core members aid researchers in the design and analysis of clinical trials and observational studies, and in statistical genetics.

We work closely with researchers from many different fields, including researchers in basic science, those who test the safety, efficacy and effectiveness of new drugs and devices, and those who conduct observational studies to identify risk factors for disease.

Over the past 25 years, our highly skilled faculty and staff have assisted over 500 successful research projects at Boston University Medical Campus, including the Framingham Heart Study. We offer a number of services to researchers, including:

Expertise in study design, innovative computer technology, data management and statistical methodology
Access to ongoing research developments in statistical methodologies, data collection, data management and computer technology
Educational activities that cover the principles of data management, biostatistical analysis, design and analysis of clinical trials, statistical genetics and statistical computing
Access to physical facilities, equipment and computational resources

For researchers not conducting research through BU CTSI, statistical consultation services are available through the Biostatistics Consulting Group.
